The Weekly Optimist Newsletter: Retention

Quotes from Me:

“Keep digging, keep doing research until you get enough details to make a well-informed decision.”

“Curiosity is highly underrated.”

“Focus on results.”

Quotes from Others:

“Everything you can imagine is real.” – Pablo Picasso

“You do not understand even life. How can you understand death?” – Confucius

“When we enhance someone’s quality of life and sense of purpose, we enhance these attributes in our own life.” – Mary Osborne

Quick Optimism:

If you don’t know what to pursue, pursue a healthier, happier, more present, and more confident self.

Question:

Merry Christmas Eve, Eve.

A lot of pre-Christmas snooping going around in my house this year. I never knew how clever young kids can be; 3 and 1 and I have nearly met my match already. Merry Christmas Eve, Eve, because we are gearing up for about 3 days and 3 houses worth of celebrations and presents. I hope you have some special plans with some special people this year, and no matter which holiday you celebrate in your family, have a wonderful time!

Do you retain what you read? If not, it may be what you are reading that contributes to your retention issues. Not content, the physical object you read on.

I was thinking about the quote above – digging and researching is often required to make well-informed decisions. Thankfully there isn’t much rhetoric disproving Santa’s existence, but if there was, it’d be easiest to remember it if you read it from a book. Good ‘ole paperback or hard cover.

We learn better from reading on paper than on screens. It may sound like common sense but from over 50 studies looking at over 160,000 people, humans are able to fully process print more effectively than its digital counterpart.

Buy into the advantage of paper. It’s a much more sense-invigorating experience and for the interior designers who love the look of a library, this is your chance to justify your taste.

Read, consume, retain, apply. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
