The Weekly Optimist Newsletter: Proud
Quotes from Me:
“There are very simple ways to show people they are worth your time. Put in the effort.”
“I feel grateful for so many things.”
“A fitness influencer, whatever that title means, won’t tell you that sometimes a 5:00am workout alarm still means unplanned bonding with your kids.”
Quotes from Others:
“Deep conversations with the right people are priceless.” – Unknown (Remember how much I love quoting Mr./Ms./Mrs. Unknown? I love it.)
“When something is truly right for you, it will fill you with energy, and that’s how you know.” – Unknown
“The seed does not ask why it has been surrounded by darkness. Its only focus is to reach for the light.” – Unknown
Personal Note: 3 for 3 on unknowns this week. Sometimes I am in the mood for serious quotes like the one about the seed, but within seconds I think, “No shit a seed doesn’t ask questions, it’s a seed.” It’s up to you whether you read things heavily or lightly, I just hope they strike you in a helpful, positive way each time.
Quick Optimism
Stolen from part of the quote above:
Put in the effort.
p.s. (sometimes reading things twice, differently, makes them stick)
Question:
Have you ever looked at someone and felt extremely proud of them?
Let’s start this week with a list:
- My wife, Taylor
- My son, Beckett, and daughter, Millie
- My brother, Henry
- My friend, Erik
- My friend, John
- My friend, Chris
- Several relatives by blood and by marriage
- Several more but this list is getting long
In the last few months, I have had friends and family get engaged and married, I have had a friend lose his mom, and I have watched several people in my life battle the roller coaster of living in 2024.
As I reflect on Sunday night and reflect with you on this wonderful Monday morning, I can’t remember a time where I have looked so much family and so many friends in their faces, and felt extremely proud of each of them for so many reasons. No matter what they celebrate, or what they endure, I can tell they are doing their best and I am very proud of them.
This week’s newsletter is dedicated to my friend’s mom, Nancy Backstrom, known as a ray of sunshine, she left us too soon.
