Wake up and go. Just go.

Question of the Week:

Have you ever gone fishing?

I went this past week, and it was a blast. For those less familiar, fishermen tend to head to the water on the bookends of the day. Morning or early evening are the best times to go. But when your toddler gets a new fishing rod, timing isn’t always an option.

You go when the enthusiasm hits. You go after hearing, “Can we go fishing?” for the 150th time, even as we are opening the car door to… go fishing. That level of excitement is my favorite.

At the dock, we caught a stick, got tangled in the dock, twisted our lines together, and even lost some bait from casting at the same time and knocking our rods together.

I guess the saying goes, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. But if you give a toddler a fish, he may or may not touch it. If you teach a toddler to fish, you never know what he might catch.”
