The Weekly Optimist Newsletter: Decision Making
Quotes from Me:

“Quiet back roads ride faster than the noise on main.”
“Seek better.”
Quotes from Others:
“Don’t make a decision until a decision must be made.” – Grandpa Payne (grandfather-in-law)
“The moment things go wrong – then you will know exactly the value of what you claim to believe.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
“Origins can’t be found, they must be created.” – Edward Said
Quick Optimism:
Be a good listener. Good listeners make stronger bonds and achieve better results.
Question:
Are you decisive?
What does decisiveness mean to you? The first things I think of are action and confidence. Decisive people can often make decisions quickly and confidently and adapt to the results of their decisions.
Are smaller decisions easier than bigger ones? Below are some key strategies to consider when making decisions.
Clarify your goals. Gather information about the options to choose from. List pros and cons. Set a deadline for making the decision. Seek advice. Lean on past experience. Accept the uncertainty. Know nothing is permanent.
The last one is tricky – it could easily lead to indecisiveness. What I mean is once you commit to your decision, and commit to it as long as you said you would, the decision can be changed in the future.
Make good decisions this week, and difficult ones too. You may be surprised what you learn along the way.
